Every year when I think of the holidays, I think of my Mom's special Hot Buttered Rum recipe. It's so divine that I could eat it plain without the rum--sheer gluttony. The holidays are a great excuse for me to make it.
What would the holidays be without Mimi Holliday too?
The scrumptious Timber Wolf lingerie set by Mimi Holliday (left) in this buttery gold color is a festive lingerie option this holiday season.
The Timber Wolf Plunge Bra and Thong are £49.00 (bra) and £32.00 (thong). For more information on the lingerie set, click on Timber Wolf by Mimi Holliday.
HOT BUTTERED RUM RECIPE
Warning, only eat this in moderation or with Madonna's workout routine.
- Ice cream ~ 1 quart
- Butter ~ 1 pound
- Brown Sugar ~ 1 pound
- Powered Sugar ~ 1 pound
- Nutmeg ~ 2 tsp.
- Cinnamon ~ 2 tsp.
Let ice cream sit out until it's very soft and liquid-y (see Step 1 image below)

Lesson No. 1:
The Lingerie Post also commented about these lessons. In its post, it states "These lessons started in 1993 as a way to show the new Aubade collections. In each one short advices was given to make your parner fall at your feet.
They called famous photographers like Bernar Matussière, Hervè Bruhat, Hervè Lewis and Michel Perez to capture the essence of the Aubade woman: feminine, classy and elegant but at the same time bold, daring and playful. The absence of the model’s face is other characteristic of the Aubade lessons so it’s easier for a woman to feel identified with the model in the picture and the black and white pictures gives to each lesson an almost magic and romantic look that emphasizes the feeling of Aubade as a luxury brand."

Stay tuned...more lessons to come!

Located in the Knightsbridge section of London, shopping at Harrods is a sensory event to be experienced. Herroom asks, "Ever wonder why some women (regardless of body-type) always look so “put-together”? It’s often subtle, but the right lingerie can make a BIG difference...(I)f you’ve stayed away from them (knit dresses) because of their form-fitting lines - fear not, we have the “Underwearing” solutions for your unique figure."
"Few of us can escape the midriff bulge and knits magnify it. Even an average figure like this one displays every bump and lump in clingy fabrics, including a protruding tummy, the dreaded back fat and pulling around the bottom.See how one piece can solve all those problems at once - roll-over the 'after' picture."
Bra size: 34B
"The Body Wrap bodysuit provides seamless all-over control and smoothing, eliminating bumps and jiggles. Firm tummy control slenderizes the midriff bulge while the long length smooths out everything from bust to thighs. Underwire support and split crotch design means this is the only piece you'll need to wear."
"At first glance, this seems to be a pretty good look. But there's some unfortunate pulling and clinging at waist, hips and bottom. Not to mention, a less than flattering low-riding cleavage. How to find something that smooths even this long, tall frame?See what a subtle difference the right pieces can make. Roll-over the "after" image to see what she's 'Underwearing'".
Bra size: 34B
"Since most one-piece shapewear just isn't long enough for tall women, try these 3 pieces! A light lift Wonderbra to do justice to a low neckline. Add Maidenform's control camisole to smooth the middle, waist, hips and bottom. Finish with Donna Karan's mid-thigh-length Perfect Slimmer."

A robe is an absolute essential and a boudoir basic for any woman. A luxurious robe helps you stay comfortable and relaxed after the bath. It also protects your day clothes if worn while getting ready. As gifts, robes are a personal but not too intimate option. With the holidays being here, robes are a great gift for under the tree, for a winter bride, her bridal party or family members like mothers, sisters, and in-laws. Anyway you look at it, the robe is a functional and elegant piece in your boudoir.
But which one to buy?
Since the robe will be worn daily, think of the personality and needs of the recipient. What do you (or the person your giving the robe to) think are the most important details in a robe? Here are some choices to help you decide. Choose from the answers below:
1. Warm, cozy, and high-quality
2. Comfortable and functional with fashionable details
3. Stylish and chic
4. Flirty and pure luxury, price is no object
There are many stunning robes out there. I've found some beautiful, well-made, comfortable robes that all feel supple to touch.
If you chose #2 or #3, then you'll love the robes by Daddy's Favorite (below).

Craig's portrayal of Bond is well done as he walks a fine balance of Bond's qualities, including good, bad, and everything in between. It makes Bond human, endearing, and, of course, the ultimate, ass-kicking super agent. Did I just say, "ass-kicking" on my blog...?

Finally, a fun, period piece that I can share with my girlfriends. Move over Pride & Prejudice and Bridget Jones' Diary, here comes Mrs. Pettigrew Lives for a Day. Besides, the film is all about lingerie...and you know how I love lingerie!
What is the film about, you ask?
According to imdb, "War threatens London as Miss Pettigrew, a destitute governess, filches a client's card from her agency and presents herself at the door. A singer named Delysia Lafosse wants a social secretary as she seeks a West End role by sleeping with a feckless producer in the bed of Nick, a smarmy nightclub owner with whom she also dallies. She ignores Michael, her piano player, who loves her and has tickets for New York on the Queen Mary. Miss Pettigrew's job is to make sure Delysia gets the part. Over 24 hours, Miss Pettigrew is also called upon to help an ambitious and unfaithful fashion editor patch things up with her older fiancé, a lingerie designer. Has Miss Pettigrew found her calling?"
Is the film worth seeing?
Life in Lingerie says about the film, "If you’re looking for a rom-com that both you and your significant other will be able to stomach, you’d do well to check out “Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day,” starring the always brilliant Frances McDormand and the adorable Amy Adams. This lighthearted British farce was adapted from a 1939 novel, and it is a prime example of the screwball comedy genre, full of wacky shenanigans and improbable situations. Amy Adams does a phenomenal job of capturing the sensuality and frivolity that actresses like Carole Lombard and Marilyn Monroe perfected on the silver screen - she must have studied My Man Godfrey and Some Like it Hot prior to filming. It lacks the depth of many other films covering the Bright Young Things in pre-war London, but it is still thoroughly enjoyable, thanks to the excellent cast and sumptuous cinematography. Lille fans will love the lingerie fashion show in a gilded hotel ballroom and are sure to enjoy the debate about foundation undergarments…here’s a great quote: 'you, as nature intended.'”
Images in this post are from the film Mrs. Pettigrew Lives for a Day.
Anyway you look at it, with Mrs. Pettigrew's talented cast, fun premise, and vintage lingerie, it seems like a great way to Celebrate Your Inner Eve at the movies!

Thanks to a dear friend (aka: The Tartlet), Eve's Apples heard about The Secret Life of Syrian Lingerie, a new book. According to Jezebel, the book "is a sociological study that seeks to examine the history and culture of undies, and by extension, a society in transition. The authors find that the more religious the area — and correspondingly, conservative women's outerwear — 'the more risqué the underwear.'"
Veryshortlist.com reviews the book and takes another approach, "Want to spice up your marriage? Look east — to the Middle East, that is. There, the brides wear undergarments that’d make a Victoria’s Secret model blush.
The Secret Life of Syrian Lingerie: Intimacy and Design showcases custom-made outfits festooned with feathers, butterflies, flowers, flashing lights — even cell phones (insert vibrate-setting jokes here). The kinky cottage industry, which thrives in the souks of Damascus, isn’t well known in the West.
But the lingerie itself serves a symbolic role — representing a young woman’s passage from virginity to womanhood — and when the honeymoon’s over, the frilly undies are meant to keep hubby out of the local Bada Bing. Flip through the book’s pages, read the accompanying testimonials, and find your preconceptions about veils and burkas — and what’s beneath them — shattered."
Images on this page are from the book. The images above feature extravagent lingerie designs (above top) and covered women (above bottom). To see more images, click on Secret Life of Syrian Lingerie Images.
