Breastfeeding with Small Breasts

By Julie

Women with small breasts may worry about their size when they decide to breastfeed their baby. Is their breast size going to hinder feeding their new baby? It’s important to know that size has nothing to do with how much milk you produce for your baby. Breast milk lies in breast tissue which is the same in small or large breasted women.

Good nutrition is the biggest factor in how much milk you produce. Eat well while nursing with lots of healthy extra calories. Nurse often and nurse in a stress free environment. Doing these things will help you produce adequate amounts of milk for your baby, regardless of the size of your breasts.

If you are still worried that you are not producing enough milk look for these signs:

  • Baby is nursing 8 times in 24 hours,
  • Baby produces at least 3 bowel movements and three wet diapers per day.
  • Baby is gaining weight.

It is important to invest in a great nursing bra while breastfeeding. Most nursing bras clip at the top of each breast instead of the back which makes opening your bra easier when nursing.

Other bras wrap around the breasts and open in the front for ease of nursing. These are great for sleeping in. The easier the better at 3AM!

Exercise in Bed: Lingerista Style

By Katie

Fitness doesn't have an agenda. Whether you're scrambling to turn the alarm clock off in the A.M. or dying to crawl into bed at night, you have time to sneak in a little exercise! Remember that confidence-thing we talked about? What better place to boost your confidence (and libido) than right in bed?

Exercising in bed can be just as beneficial to you as if you were to exercise in a gym; the unstable surface of the mattress provides core strength and stability (similar to a BOSU or balance discs) and body-weight exercises are all fitness professionals talk about!

(Before beginning this or any exercise program, please consult with your doctor)

1. Morning Bridge. Lie on your back, knees bent, and arms by your side. Lift your heals into the bed as your hips press towards the ceiling. Squeeze tight! Slowly lower back down and repeat 20 times.
2. Pillow Push-ups. Place 2 pillows side-by-side on the bed. Making sure your arms are right underneath your shoulders, place your hands on each pillow (you'll be slightly off-balance and that's what we want!) and lift into a plank position on knees or toes. Complete as many push-ups as you can (with good form) for 30 seconds.
3. Mountain Climbers. From the push-up position, alternate one knee into your chest, for 30 seconds.
4. Crab Dips. Sit on your bum and place your arms behind you, fingertips facing front. Lift your hips up so that you're in a tabletop position. Bend your elbows straight behind you, letting your bum hover over the bedspread, then press straight up. Repeat 15 times.

5. Super(wo)mans.Lie on your stomach, arms straight overhead and legs straight behind you. Lift your upper body then lower body and hold for a couple of breaths, squeezing everything. Slowly lower and repeat 10 times.
6. Bed Squats. Time to get up! Swing your legs around so your feet are resting on the floor; toes, knees, hips, and shoulders facing front. Press through your heals and come to standing, squeezing hips forward. Slowly lower back down to the bed and repeat 20 times.

You DO have time to exercise! Who knows, maybe you'll motivate your significant other to join you. You know how the saying goes.

Breast Changes During Pregnancy

By Julie

There are a lot of unwelcome symptoms that occur during pregnancy. Morning sickness always tops the list. Heartburn, constipation, hemorrhoids to name a few more. Some women don’t experience any symptoms (Lucky!) but it is normal to experience a wide variety of symptoms from the nauseating to the thrilling.

One symptom women with smallbreasts sometimes look forward to is the changes in breast size. You discover you are pregnant then one day you look down and BAM! your chest is twice the size than it was before. Breasts begin growing around the 6 to 8 week mark of pregnancy. As they grow they can become sore and stretch marks can appear. Your breasts are preparing for breastfeeding while you are pregnant whether you end up nursing or not..

The best thing you can do for your breasts during pregnancy is to purchase a bra that fits. Get fitted by an expert or use Eves Apples Custom Bra Fit Consultation. Purchasing a bra a size up to allow for growth is also a good idea. That way you will have plenty of room to grow (which you will).  A bra without an underwire will be more comfortable than one with an underwire. Choose your fabric wisely as well. A nice soft cotton bra will be less irritating on those sensitive nipples of pregnancy.

As you grow, you might want to invest in a maternity bra that will double as a nursing bra after the baby arrives. Motherhood Maternity has excellent choices in nursing bras and sleeping maternity bras.

Lingeristas LOVE Lingerie Trunk Show & Bra Fitting

If you like what Angela had to say about her bra fitting, VISIT us this Tuesday (June 12), 6 p.m. at Betsey's Crepes for the FIT YOUR APPLES: Lingerie Trunk Show & Bra Fitting!

127 Broad St., Southern Pines, NC 28387

Here's what the Fabulous Angela had to say:

"I can't even begin to describe how much better I felt about myself and my cup size after being PROPERLY FITTED for a bra through Eve's Apples! Going into the experience I couldn't help but remember the countless times I had previously been fitted at various retail stores. I was prepared to leave with the same size bra, again. I learned that I was wearing a much larger band width than necessary and a cup that was too SMALL! After having worn my new Eve's Apples bras for a few days I barely even notice that I have one on. I was so used to being uncomfortable in a bra! I look at myself in the mirror and take pride in my bust. I too look like the models in the retail catalogs because I finally have bras that fit and make me feel sexy! Thank You Eve xo ♥ xo"

Trends in Tights

There are leggings that can make legs look stronger and longer, leaner and more lovely! Trends in tights have changed throughout the years but are now more chic and sexier than ever. From lace to vibrant looks, tights have made a comeback, yet again, and whether you pair your leggings with lingerie or evening wear, there's a fabulous fad for every look.

Lace
Lace up lace is H-O-T! The sexy lingerie look is so in and not just for the runway model anymore. In whites, reds and blacks, lace is trendy in different designs as well. Stripes, paisleys, even polka dots, lace up lace is the “it” legging of the year.

Vibrant Colors
Purples, reds and yellows, oh my! Don't be afraid to stand out, literally! Bright hues paired with pumps that pop are another top trend in 2012. Less sheer than the hose before, these leggings light up your look and actually streamline the leg (making you look thinner!)

Over the Top
Checkerboards, stripes and butterflies are just a few of the shapes and designs that are stopping traffic this summer. Opaque and sheer, black and white as well as color, anything goes with these hose! Pair up these over the top looks with a solid color top for the full effect.

Last but Not Least...
Suspender tights! As seen on stars like Miley Cyrus, Paris Hilton, Rihanna and Selena Gomez, these tights don fake suspenders. Sexy and comfy, the illusion of suspenders guarantees doubles takes. Caution: pair these tights with the right outfit or risk looking like you are not fully clothed!

Lingerie Chic: Blazers & Lingerie

Blazers and Lingerie?!

As the summer arrives you see many new styles come into play. For instance, neutrals are worn as (basic) black would be (worn) in the winter season.  One thing is for sure, Camis (camisoles) are a must have for the summer season, be sure to always have a couple on hand.

 Photo: Armani

There are many different ways to wear a cami for instance take a look at a shot from Rihanna's photo shoot for Armani's 2012 Summer ad. The silk cami with the lace trim is an absolute fave for any summer event. That's right I mean you can wear this cami as outer wear instead of just in your bedroom.  To make it even more interesting combine this silky top with a blazer! Yes, a blazer; it is the perfect look for meeting up with a friend for lunch, going out for a happy hour, or even work! If you have a top such as this one Rihanna is wearing (pattern), be sure to team it up with a bare blazer.  This will surely give you the statement outfit you are looking for, with minimal effort.

A blazer gives any outfit that last magic touch before it becomes perfectly sexy and sophisticated. Pair the silk cami with a nice bright blazer and you have the perfect summer look; you can wear jeans to dress down the look or simply wear your favorite white shorts- either way you will look trendy with a touch of class. You can't go wrong with this union, putting this outfit together will always result as a hit anywhere you go. With the right shoes and bag- you are ready for whatever comes your way.

confidence
By Katie Evans

Confidence (noun): belief in oneself and one's powers and abilities; self-confidence; self-reliance; assurance.

The definition of confidence; so simple yet so hard to grasp for some of us. Why is it that we can ooze confidence in our careers, outfits, and with our girlfriends but once we're in an intimate setting, we freeze? Owning and embracing our self-confidence is the first step to looking and feeling our best! Fitness and confidence go hand-in-hand, and it's the one area that you have complete control over.
Confidence
Now, before we go parading around in one of Eve's skimpy little numbers, we need to own our confidence:
  1. Stop comparing! We're all made to be different so embrace it; if everyone was alike, it'd be a pretty boring world.
  2. Think positively. Instead of complaining about your "problem" areas, embrace what your body HAS done for you. Did you have a baby recently? Run a race? Defeat a sickness? Have a motto that you can use to lift your spirits up (like "Celebrate Your Inner Eve").
  3. Except mistakes. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
  4. Surround yourself with positive people. Just like sneezes, positiveness is contagious.
  5. Do something you love. Everyday. Be greedy, put yourself first, and make sure you're happy before serving others because that positive energy will follow you.
Confidence starts with YOU.
Confidence...
Next week, we'll discuss exercises that we can do right in our bed with our new confident-self!

Runway Report - Trends in Swimwear: What's Hot and What's Not

Gone is the barely there monokini and bathing suits that leave little to the imagination! We've all seen the suits on television and in magazines that make us want to run and hide in a t-shirt and shorts. But swimsuits have become more of a less terrifying trend this year especially for women with trouble areas. Whether it's small busts or the tummy that won't shrink, this seasons fads are fabulous for one and all!

The modern interpretation of the 50's inspired swimsuit to the stars is red hot and screams Hollywood. Think Marilyn Monroe or Betty Grable – high-waisted bottoms and halter tops. A great suit for most body types, especially if you are lacking curves.

  Getty Images

Color blocking is another must-have stye of suit this season. Swimsuits in purples, blues and yellow hues are taking over the runways and beaches around the world. The new trend of unmatched colored tops and bottoms are eye catching and offer a larger variety of styles to choose from.

The Bandeau bathing suit is at the top of the most popular list. A flashback from the seventies, the bandeau is the new string bikini and is set to stick around for a long time! For those blessed with a little less up top, the bandeau tends to enhance the chest without padding or bulky liners.

Last, but not least, the one piece (believe it or not!) is one of the "it" suits for summer. Modest, yet modern, the one piece is rockin' metallics and vibrant colors. Great news for ALL body types! Rouching (or gathered fabric) in “trouble” areas, either tummy or chest, is hot when it comes to the one piece this year, making it safe for everyone to swim once again!

One-of-a-Kind Online Bra Fitting

Exclusively brought to you by Eve's Apples Lingerie!

Never Seen Before “Custom Bra Consultation” for Women with Immediate Results

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (April 10, 2012) – Did you know most petite and small-busted women can’t get a bra size by using the traditional bra measuring system? According to “Eve” of Eve’s Apples LingerieThe Small Bra Specialists, traditional bra fitting systems don’t work for women with smaller breasts.

“Most bra-measurement systems don’t take into account breast shape, tissue, and placement on the chest,” says Eve. “So women with petite and small breasts often guess their bra size and end up wearing ill-fitting bras with cups that are too small and bands that are too big.”

“Custom Bra Consultation”

The Custom Bra Consultation (www.evesappleslingerie.com/online-bra-consultation) is a direct result of Eve’s Apples’ “Size Up the Web” Campaign, launched in 2011 to help petite-busted women find their true bra size. “The response was overwhelming,” says Eve. “Within a couple of months, I couldn’t keep up with the countless requests for bra fittings.”

The answer? To create an online system that takes the specialized methods that Eve does during her personalized, online fittings (individual breast measurements, breast placement, breast tissue and bra issues) and give these customized responses it to as many women as possible.

The result? A FREE, online bra fitting tool that provides a 1 – 5 page report that is customized for each woman that fills out the form.

“I wish I had my custom bra consultation growing up.” says Eve. “It takes the guess work out of finding a bra size. And it helps women understand why they’ve been having specific issues with getting a good fit all these years.”

The Issue

Using the old system of measuring the band and cup sizes then adding four or five inches doesn’t work on petites and small busted women. A small busted woman could be a 32C but could come up with a negative cup size with the old system. It simply doesn’t work.

Why A Free Bra Consultation

Gayvin Powers, aka: Eve, spent years compiling bra fitting information on petite and small busted women. Instead of profiting by selling this information, she’s offering the personalized information to help empower women.

“Too often I’ve spoken to women crying on the phone over their low self-esteem associated with their bra size,” says Eve. “Many women have bought into the perception that only large breasts are beautiful. Women’s and society’s perception of women and their bodies need to improve. It’s my hope that providing the Custom Bra Consultation will help empower women and they’ll be more accepting of their bodies.”

Customer Feedback

Upon receipt of the immediate results, women are often surprised to discover that the best fitting bras feature larger cups and smaller bands than they’ve worn all their lives. Of her bra-fitting experience with Eve’s Apples’ Custom Bra Consultation, one customer replied:

“I had no idea I should be wearing a 32C! I've been wearing a 36B (believed I actually was a 36A!!) since high school."

Regarding the online process, she writes, “The online consultation benefit is the BEST. For years, I've been planning to go to some high-end department store to be fitted and to learn my true bra size. With a job, two kids, and the chaos of life in general, I've just never found the time -- and quite honestly, I've felt a little silly and self-conscious about bearing my tiny little apples!”

Benefits

Expanding upon their commitment to help small-busted women feel as alluring as their busty counterparts, Eve’s Apples Lingerie believes the Custom Bra Consultation will achieve positive results, including:

  • Providing personalized and immediate results for FREE
  • Increasing the number of women who get fitted professionally by offering an at-home solution
  • Empowering women to understand and appreciate their bodies
  • Help women shop for their correct bra size

By lending her personal expertise to the bra fitting process, Eve is taking great strides towards making Eve’s Apples Lingerie the most personalized, intimate lingerie shopping experience for women available. She is currently developing her own brand for petite and small-busted women, be sure to look for it in 2013.

For now, women can take advantage of Eve’s personal consultation at: www.evesappleslingerie.com/online-bra-consultation

Lingerie Inner and Outerwear: Get Kate Winslet's Look

We know, Kate Winslet is just so darling. She was our Eve of the Month a few years back and is simply lovely in the Harper's Bazaare Magazine's November issue, 2011.

GET KATE'S LOOK!

Lingerie as Inner & Outer Wear - 1:
Pair a basic smooth cup bra (such as the Wacoal T-Back Bra or onGossamer Front Close J-Hook Bra) in black under a lacy top. The results are incredibly sexy.

Lingerie as Inner & Outer Wear - 2:
Try a black lace bra layered (such as Natori Sheer Lace Feathers Bra or Hanky Panky Signature Crossover Lace Bralette) under a sheer black top. It's the opposite of option one, is more understated but just as sexy.

Lingerie as Inner & Outer Wear - 3:
To create an alluring look with added cleavage, try The Little Bra Company Lucia Plunge Cleavage Bra.

For a sexier look, it's as easy as playing around in your closet or adding a few functional pieces that can take you from inner to outer wear.

~ Eve
