Slip Out in This Dress!

By Bianca

It’s summertime, and that means less layers in the closet!  Light colors and light material is the motive for the upcoming hot weather.

Day or night it’s important to keep cool, but for fashionistas it’s also imperative to stay stylish.  There are many ways to keep cool and classy but I one of my favorite looks is the “Slip Dress.”  Silky and chic is the outcome when you “slip” on this one piece wonder!

It may come across as odd to wear a slip know for being under your clothes, as your ensemble, but this style has been around for longer than you may think.   The proof is before your eyes; take a look at this photo of Liz Taylor (in the film, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof) in her “Slip Dress.”  This timeless look has been worn for quite some time (as you can see).

You can’t go wrong with peach, coral or pink hues; neutral colors always work.  A simple platform pump or peep toes will compliment the dress along, with of course the appropriate jewelry accessories.  You could team up the slip dress with a nice set of pearls for a classy effect, maybe even a nice long necklace and/or chandelier earrings to take this look up a notch (as worn by the model in the slip dress photo showcased by Ralph Lauren).  A lengthy clutch to carry the essentials, and you have the ideal slip dress outfit.

You can be sexy, trendy and cool all at once.   No need to sacrifice style for the heat waves to come, enjoy!

Best in Bras

This once uncomfortable and unattractive undergarment has been transformed into a piece of clothing that continues to reinvent itself year after year. From bright, vivid colors to bras that turn an A into a C without blinking, has become more than just that boring piece of underwear that you dread shopping for. The following trends are the best in bras for 2012:

Push Ups
This trend began in bras and even continues to come in the shape and form of gel like chicken cutlets. Getting the “girls” to look as perky as they were when you were 20 is H-O-T. It may seem virtually impossible, but with the amazing breakthroughs in bra science today, you'll be shocked at how comfy the push up has become!

Sexy Lace Nicole Bra - Coming Soon to Eve's Apples

Colors!
Branch out from the whites, nudes and blacks ladies! Don't be afraid to grab that bright purple bra! Sure, you need a (nude) bra for that white T, but lime greens and hot pinks are the new black bra this year.

Lace
Don't think your mom's 70's cream colored, thick stitched lace bra, we're talking about the sexy stark white, peep show lace that makes you feel like the gorgeous woman you are. These types of bras can also transition from underwear to outerwear, using the more conservative bras under sweaters and sheer tops.

Elizabeth Petite Sports Bra -Coming Soon to Eve's Apples

The New Sports Bra
Not just for the gym, the sports bra has been transformed into a comfortable, seamless undergarment that supports without shaping your chest into the dreaded uni-boob. With no underwire to cut into your ribs, the sports bra has become one of the most popular trends of 2012.

Lingerie-Worthy Abs

By Katie

It's a fact: abdominals are made in the kitchen; 70% diet, 30% exercise will get you ready to strut your stuff in one of Eve's skimpy outfits. Contrary to popular belief, performing millions of crunches will not get you lingerie-worthy abs. Yes those crunches are strengthening your abdominals, but if there's a layer of fat on top of them, your hubby won't get to see them! Here are 3 rules to fast-track your exercise results and get you in lingerie sooner:

  1. Eat a balanced diet consisting of lean protein, healthy fats, whole grains, and lots of fruits and veggies. Great choices: Greek yogurt with fruit and nuts, turkey sandwich on whole-grain bread with a slice of part-skim cheese, banana and peanut butter with celery, oatmeal with fruit and nuts.
  2. Incorporate high intensity interval training into your regime. Sprint for 30 seconds followed by 60 seconds (or longer) of recovery at a moderate-intensity pace. HIIT stimulates HGH during and after your workout!
  3. Drink lots of water! It helps move things along so you're not bloated in this (insert image of your lingerie), keeps skin and hair glowing, and hydrates you.

Complete this quick core workout before a romp session as a warm-up; did you know that you can burn between 85-250 calories during a romp session? Talk about motivation!

Breastfeeding with Small Breasts

By Julie

Women with small breasts may worry about their size when they decide to breastfeed their baby. Is their breast size going to hinder feeding their new baby? It’s important to know that size has nothing to do with how much milk you produce for your baby. Breast milk lies in breast tissue which is the same in small or large breasted women.

Good nutrition is the biggest factor in how much milk you produce. Eat well while nursing with lots of healthy extra calories. Nurse often and nurse in a stress free environment. Doing these things will help you produce adequate amounts of milk for your baby, regardless of the size of your breasts.

If you are still worried that you are not producing enough milk look for these signs:

  • Baby is nursing 8 times in 24 hours,
  • Baby produces at least 3 bowel movements and three wet diapers per day.
  • Baby is gaining weight.

It is important to invest in a great nursing bra while breastfeeding. Most nursing bras clip at the top of each breast instead of the back which makes opening your bra easier when nursing.

Other bras wrap around the breasts and open in the front for ease of nursing. These are great for sleeping in. The easier the better at 3AM!

Exercise in Bed: Lingerista Style

By Katie

Fitness doesn't have an agenda. Whether you're scrambling to turn the alarm clock off in the A.M. or dying to crawl into bed at night, you have time to sneak in a little exercise! Remember that confidence-thing we talked about? What better place to boost your confidence (and libido) than right in bed?

Exercising in bed can be just as beneficial to you as if you were to exercise in a gym; the unstable surface of the mattress provides core strength and stability (similar to a BOSU or balance discs) and body-weight exercises are all fitness professionals talk about!

(Before beginning this or any exercise program, please consult with your doctor)

1. Morning Bridge. Lie on your back, knees bent, and arms by your side. Lift your heals into the bed as your hips press towards the ceiling. Squeeze tight! Slowly lower back down and repeat 20 times.
2. Pillow Push-ups. Place 2 pillows side-by-side on the bed. Making sure your arms are right underneath your shoulders, place your hands on each pillow (you'll be slightly off-balance and that's what we want!) and lift into a plank position on knees or toes. Complete as many push-ups as you can (with good form) for 30 seconds.
3. Mountain Climbers. From the push-up position, alternate one knee into your chest, for 30 seconds.
4. Crab Dips. Sit on your bum and place your arms behind you, fingertips facing front. Lift your hips up so that you're in a tabletop position. Bend your elbows straight behind you, letting your bum hover over the bedspread, then press straight up. Repeat 15 times.

5. Super(wo)mans.Lie on your stomach, arms straight overhead and legs straight behind you. Lift your upper body then lower body and hold for a couple of breaths, squeezing everything. Slowly lower and repeat 10 times.
6. Bed Squats. Time to get up! Swing your legs around so your feet are resting on the floor; toes, knees, hips, and shoulders facing front. Press through your heals and come to standing, squeezing hips forward. Slowly lower back down to the bed and repeat 20 times.

You DO have time to exercise! Who knows, maybe you'll motivate your significant other to join you. You know how the saying goes.

Breast Changes During Pregnancy

By Julie

There are a lot of unwelcome symptoms that occur during pregnancy. Morning sickness always tops the list. Heartburn, constipation, hemorrhoids to name a few more. Some women don’t experience any symptoms (Lucky!) but it is normal to experience a wide variety of symptoms from the nauseating to the thrilling.

One symptom women with smallbreasts sometimes look forward to is the changes in breast size. You discover you are pregnant then one day you look down and BAM! your chest is twice the size than it was before. Breasts begin growing around the 6 to 8 week mark of pregnancy. As they grow they can become sore and stretch marks can appear. Your breasts are preparing for breastfeeding while you are pregnant whether you end up nursing or not..

The best thing you can do for your breasts during pregnancy is to purchase a bra that fits. Get fitted by an expert or use Eves Apples Custom Bra Fit Consultation. Purchasing a bra a size up to allow for growth is also a good idea. That way you will have plenty of room to grow (which you will).  A bra without an underwire will be more comfortable than one with an underwire. Choose your fabric wisely as well. A nice soft cotton bra will be less irritating on those sensitive nipples of pregnancy.

As you grow, you might want to invest in a maternity bra that will double as a nursing bra after the baby arrives. Motherhood Maternity has excellent choices in nursing bras and sleeping maternity bras.

Lingeristas LOVE Lingerie Trunk Show & Bra Fitting

If you like what Angela had to say about her bra fitting, VISIT us this Tuesday (June 12), 6 p.m. at Betsey's Crepes for the FIT YOUR APPLES: Lingerie Trunk Show & Bra Fitting!

127 Broad St., Southern Pines, NC 28387

Here's what the Fabulous Angela had to say:

"I can't even begin to describe how much better I felt about myself and my cup size after being PROPERLY FITTED for a bra through Eve's Apples! Going into the experience I couldn't help but remember the countless times I had previously been fitted at various retail stores. I was prepared to leave with the same size bra, again. I learned that I was wearing a much larger band width than necessary and a cup that was too SMALL! After having worn my new Eve's Apples bras for a few days I barely even notice that I have one on. I was so used to being uncomfortable in a bra! I look at myself in the mirror and take pride in my bust. I too look like the models in the retail catalogs because I finally have bras that fit and make me feel sexy! Thank You Eve xo ♥ xo"

Trends in Tights

There are leggings that can make legs look stronger and longer, leaner and more lovely! Trends in tights have changed throughout the years but are now more chic and sexier than ever. From lace to vibrant looks, tights have made a comeback, yet again, and whether you pair your leggings with lingerie or evening wear, there's a fabulous fad for every look.

Lace
Lace up lace is H-O-T! The sexy lingerie look is so in and not just for the runway model anymore. In whites, reds and blacks, lace is trendy in different designs as well. Stripes, paisleys, even polka dots, lace up lace is the “it” legging of the year.

Vibrant Colors
Purples, reds and yellows, oh my! Don't be afraid to stand out, literally! Bright hues paired with pumps that pop are another top trend in 2012. Less sheer than the hose before, these leggings light up your look and actually streamline the leg (making you look thinner!)

Over the Top
Checkerboards, stripes and butterflies are just a few of the shapes and designs that are stopping traffic this summer. Opaque and sheer, black and white as well as color, anything goes with these hose! Pair up these over the top looks with a solid color top for the full effect.

Last but Not Least...
Suspender tights! As seen on stars like Miley Cyrus, Paris Hilton, Rihanna and Selena Gomez, these tights don fake suspenders. Sexy and comfy, the illusion of suspenders guarantees doubles takes. Caution: pair these tights with the right outfit or risk looking like you are not fully clothed!

Lingerie Chic: Blazers & Lingerie

Blazers and Lingerie?!

As the summer arrives you see many new styles come into play. For instance, neutrals are worn as (basic) black would be (worn) in the winter season.  One thing is for sure, Camis (camisoles) are a must have for the summer season, be sure to always have a couple on hand.

 Photo: Armani

There are many different ways to wear a cami for instance take a look at a shot from Rihanna's photo shoot for Armani's 2012 Summer ad. The silk cami with the lace trim is an absolute fave for any summer event. That's right I mean you can wear this cami as outer wear instead of just in your bedroom.  To make it even more interesting combine this silky top with a blazer! Yes, a blazer; it is the perfect look for meeting up with a friend for lunch, going out for a happy hour, or even work! If you have a top such as this one Rihanna is wearing (pattern), be sure to team it up with a bare blazer.  This will surely give you the statement outfit you are looking for, with minimal effort.

A blazer gives any outfit that last magic touch before it becomes perfectly sexy and sophisticated. Pair the silk cami with a nice bright blazer and you have the perfect summer look; you can wear jeans to dress down the look or simply wear your favorite white shorts- either way you will look trendy with a touch of class. You can't go wrong with this union, putting this outfit together will always result as a hit anywhere you go. With the right shoes and bag- you are ready for whatever comes your way.

confidence
By Katie Evans

Confidence (noun): belief in oneself and one's powers and abilities; self-confidence; self-reliance; assurance.

The definition of confidence; so simple yet so hard to grasp for some of us. Why is it that we can ooze confidence in our careers, outfits, and with our girlfriends but once we're in an intimate setting, we freeze? Owning and embracing our self-confidence is the first step to looking and feeling our best! Fitness and confidence go hand-in-hand, and it's the one area that you have complete control over.
Confidence
Now, before we go parading around in one of Eve's skimpy little numbers, we need to own our confidence:
  1. Stop comparing! We're all made to be different so embrace it; if everyone was alike, it'd be a pretty boring world.
  2. Think positively. Instead of complaining about your "problem" areas, embrace what your body HAS done for you. Did you have a baby recently? Run a race? Defeat a sickness? Have a motto that you can use to lift your spirits up (like "Celebrate Your Inner Eve").
  3. Except mistakes. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
  4. Surround yourself with positive people. Just like sneezes, positiveness is contagious.
  5. Do something you love. Everyday. Be greedy, put yourself first, and make sure you're happy before serving others because that positive energy will follow you.
Confidence starts with YOU.
Confidence...
Next week, we'll discuss exercises that we can do right in our bed with our new confident-self!
