Merry Christmas, Lingeristas!
Merry Christmas to all of our dear, Lingeristas!
The following are some Christmas quotes that feel timeless and classic.
"Christmas is the season for kindling the fire of hospitality in the hall, the genial flame of charity in the heart." ~ Washington Irving
"It is Christmas in the heart that puts Christmas in the air." ~ W.T. Ellis
"Even as an adult I find it difficult to sleep on Christmas Eve. Yuletide excitement is a potent caffeine, no matter your age." ~ Carrie Latet
"Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love!" ~ Hamilton Wright Mabie
"Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen." ~ Author unknown, attributed to a 7-year-old named Bobby
Images on this post are of Monica, our delightful Eve's Apples lingerie model, who will be gracing our website launching on New Year's Day, January 1, 2010!
Monica showed up to the shoot, wearing an ill-fitting bra and thinking that she was a 36A. After getting her fitted, she was thrilled to see that she's a 32B and looks gorgeous in everything we put her in during the shoot! It wasn't long before she was "Celebrating Her Inner Eve." She looks so spectacular in this red Lucia Plunge Bra (top image) and matching lace boyshorts that I had to send her home in it!
Last year, we had a contest for one lucky winner of this red Lucia bra and panty set by The Little Bra Company. It was the biggest contest turn out still to date! If you like this lingerie set, you can find it on New Year's Day on our new online lingerie boutique dedicated to smaller busted women (bra sizes 28AA - 36B and 32C).
Monica (in the second image) is wearing a white Retro India Bralette by Eberjey. Both panty sets can be found on our lingerie website (http://www.evesappleslingerie.com/) on January 1, 2010.
Have a wonderful holiday, my dear Lingeristas!

Men's Lingerie Gift Tips: When Shopping for Her ~ Part 5
Thanks to Evie, our stellar Eve's Apples' Correspondent, for telling us about lingerie gift giving tips to men written by a man for their wives, girlfriends and signifcant others.
In the Seattle Times, Evie discovered "Spice up your holidays: A guy's guide to shopping for lingerie gifts," by Geoff Carter with the Seattle Times.
Geoff writes, "...Attention all fellers: As they now stand, your plans to buy a gift of frilly lingerie for your significant other are doomed to flop and fail. You're probably looking at lingerie Web sites right now, armed only with a vague idea of your sweetheart's sizes (no, no, stop looking at your cupped hands), and an even more vague notion of what she'd actually like to wear, a notion that's inextricably rooted in the kind of lingerie you want to see in the bedroom: lacy, see-through, possibly evaporating.
I know all this because I'm one of you: I'm buying lingerie for my girl for the first time ever. My need to research every purchase to within an inch of its life brought me to Jennifer Carroll, owner of Fremont lingerie boutique Bellefleur and co-author of "Underneath It All: A Girl's Guide to Buying, Wearing and Loving Lingerie." With her help, I have been able to break down this daunting process into a handful of steps that should be familiar to any scrubby dude who's ever played a first-person shooter.
Do some reconnaissance. Take a peek inside your significant other's underwear or lingerie drawer and look up her bra size, which is a number followed by a letter. Then look at the panty size, which should be small, medium or large. Do not try to measure her yourself: "A man coming at you with a measuring tape is a little frightening," Carroll says. "Asking her for her sizes is completely fine." Carroll also advises looking up your girl's clothing size (size 6, size 8 and so on), which can be used to size her up for sleepwear...."

Lingerie & Tutus
Tutus, worn as a fashionably flirty skirt for some and a classic uniform for serious ballerinas, always reminds me of lingerie. One of my all time favorite panties was the pink, ruffly tutu panty by Jezebel a couple years ago, embracing all the feminine delight and details that make a tutu fun. The Huit lingerie 2009 Spring Collection (images on this page) is filled with fun details echoing back to tutus and ballerinas.
In the Tutu Much post, Mme. Piplette of A La Folie recounts a childhood Christmas in which she we left pondering over her naughty and nice qualities when Santa brought presents for all the children accept her and another girl she was sure that she'd see later in group therapy. With an obsession, close to Messy Marvin in A Christmas Story, Mme. Piplette's Red Ryder BB gun was a dainty, mulit-layered, twirl inspiring tutu.
"...I sat alone in my homemade green velvet culotte and vest set, sans cadeau. I was so embarrassed, I wanted to die... what had I done that was so bad? Was it because I snuck into the pantry and ate all the chocolate crayons my mom had bought for my sister's birthday? No, it was probably because I had forgotten to let that butterfly go and it died in my bug jar. It was an accident, I swear! But I was a murderess, and Santa knew it...."
To read about Mme. Piplette's classic holiday experience with Santa and the missing tutu, click on Tutu Much.
Remember, you've never to young or old to pull out a tutu for fun or play.

Eve's Apples Celebrates Two Years!
As many of you know, Eve's Apples is celebrating our "Two Year Anniversary" today. Two years ago, our first blog posted, fueled by Eve's love of luxurious lingerie. It's been a wonderful time, meeting new people, discovering designers, interviewing lingerie entrepreneurs, and so much more. Now, we're on the verge of launching our new online lingerie boutique. As always, we continue to be dedicated to bringing you, our dear lingeristas, gorgeous lingerie to help you look and feel your best.
In honor of our Two Year Anniversary, we are reposting one of our favorite, most talked about blogs, "Priceless Panties: Mood Lingerie." After all, this is where the inspiration all began.
Enjoy! We look forward to many more years with you!
xo

PRICELESS PANTIES: MOOD LINGERIE
An old boyfriend once told me that nothing is more attractive on a woman than confidence. I say, "Nothing is more attractive than a confident woman in luxurious lingerie."
For me, wearing a beautiful matching bra and panty set in a sumptuous fabric against my skin makes me feel sexy any day. It's never mattered to me whether or not my boyfriends ever knew that I was wearing special lingerie or not, or even if my husband does now. What has mattered all along is that I've known!
The right kind of lingerie will set me up for the day. If there's a day where I feel like hell warmed over, I'll look though my precious, color-coded lingerie drawers only to find my mood lifting. Once I slip the silk over my body, the decision is made. Today is going to be good!
Over the years, I've noticed, that I tend to gravitate towards certain colors and sets based upon my moods. The following is what I've found according to my mood:
Bra Color & Mood
• white = fresh, new beginnings
• black = meow, confident, nothings getting past me today
• red = sexy vixen, sassy, watch out
• pink = sweet, loving, tender, kind
• blue = calm, mellow, steady
• green = grounding
• brown = stylish, serious
• orange = artistic, creative
• flower print = girlie
• stripes = fun-loving, sporty
How I feel about lingerie reminds me of the time I tried on a $250,000 necklace at Tiffany's. The ladies with me were encouraging me to try on the necklace. I thought, "Why? I don't even like diamonds." I begrudgingly tried it on, only to be shocked at how such a small, delicately crafted piece could immediately alter my mood.
Once it was on my neck, I felt it...the feeling can only be described as a symbiotic blend of craftsmanship, beauty, and elegance. And I hadn't even I looked in the mirror yet. I can still feel the light, countless karats effortlessly draping over my collar bone and the polished metal gliding over my skin. It was as if the necklace were made just for me. And when I saw it on myself...well, I don't have to say anymore. It was a priceless experience. In that moment, I finally knew why they say, "Diamonds are a girls best friend."
The right lingerie can have the same mood altering affect. Although, for a lot less money. Whew! Lingerie can make me feel as if this beautiful creation were made just for me. It can enhance parts of my body that I never knew could look like that! What it does for my confidence, even if I'm the only one who knows it, is priceless!

Lingerista Lifestyle: Papaya Pumpkin Facial
After a day of festivities, including succulent turkey, herb infused gravy, savory stuffing, potatoes, pies, wine and ports, your body is in dire need of detoxing. No one likes to fit into sexy lingerie after a day of gluttonous gorging on delicious holiday treats. Use some of the local harvest to make a pumpkin (and papaya) facial that is a great way to give your face (and body) a fresh glow after Thanksgiving.
PAPAYA PUMPKIN FACIAL
- 2/3 c papaya mashed
- 15oz can pure pumpkin
- 1 egg beaten
Apply for 10 minutes. Refines skin, making it smoother and giving you a softer complexion.
Thanks to Glamology for the twitter facial recipe.
May you have a relaxing, refreshed holiday weekend of recovery, my dear Lingeristas.

Latest Lingerie News: Elle Macpherson Gets Intimate with Berlin
Congratulations to Elle Macpherson for launching her lingerie collection throughout Europe!
...The focus for the Intimates lingerie has always been on impeccable design, using luxurious fabrics with attention to fit, comfort and affordability. This is what sets the lingerie apart,' says Elle."
Elle's intimate apparel "is now available throughout Europe in countries including Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Denmark and Greece.
As well as the European and UK markets, Elle’s lingerie is sold in the United States, Australasia and the Gulf States. Once the European expansion is complete, Elle’s lingerie will be sold in over 30 countries around the world."
In a recent press release by Bendon, "The launch of Elle Macpherson Intimates into Europe took place in the vibrant Mitte of East Berlin on November 12th, 2009. The latest Spring/Summer 2010 collection was displayed in a series of artistic installations at the Galerie Morgen, interpreting the relationship between art and fashion, and with Elle Macpherson, the Creative Director of Intimates, in attendance.
Hip, young Berliners mixed with the established fashion and cultural influences to create an eclectic and artistic scene. Guests included Anna von Griesheim, renowned artist HP Adamski, Countess Tamara von Nayhauss, Sophie Schuett, Celia von Bismarck, designers Unrath & Strano, opera singer Tobey Wilson, TV presenters Anastasia Zampounidis and Tanja Buelter, actors Stephanie Stumph, Marcel Neumueller, and Hubertus Regout, media expert Prof. Jo Groebel and milliner Fiona Benett – just to name but a few....
...Elle Macpherson, famous for shaking up the traditionally staid lingerie industry, could be considered to be bucking the trend of most business strategies in the current global economic climate by bringing her collection to Europe. However, this signals the confidence in the strength of the Intimates brand and the unique fashion handwriting which is in demand in Europe.
Elle Macpherson, Creative Director of Intimates, says '(T)aking my lingerie into Europe feels very much like a natural next step.'
'The reaction to the launch of Intimates in Europe has surpassed all our initial expectations. It’s a very exciting time for me and my design team...

The Quotable Lingerista: Dita von Tesse
Dita von Tesse, one of Eve's favorite lingerie icons, is not only an entertainer but also a designer and business woman. To find out more about this fascinating woman and her thoughts, read a few of her quotes below.
"Please, oh please, let me never become the woman in the room that hates the younger women in the room."
"I'm always on time when it matters....!"
“People always think I just hang around in jeans or a tracksuit, and I’m like, Well, no. I’m sitting here right now, having just rolled out of bed, wearing a vintage slip. I don’t have any makeup on, my hair is probably a disaster, but that doesn’t mean I’ll put on jeans and a T-shirt because no one’s looking. I mean, I don’t put on a full face of makeup, heels and a little black dress every time I walk out the door—I’m not an alien from another planet who doesn’t like to be comfortable—it’s just that, for me, the natural version of me, is only for people who are close to me. I don’t know why everyone wants me to wear jeans so badly.”
(The above quote from Fashionindie in Fashion Quotable: Dita von Tesse)

Lingerie Model Secrets: Part 1 ~ Gisele
Look no further. Elle Magazine interviewed Gisele Bündchen in Supermodel Secrets. To find out some of the inside tips, from the highly sought after lingerie model, read the following Elle interview by Megan Deem below:
...“I am a huge fan of big cotton underpants; they’re comfortable,” (Gisele) says. “I wear them every day.” (Note: In Brazilianspeak, “big” is equivalent to a bikini cut, not granny panties.) Despite her enviable figure, Bündchen gets butterflies before baring it on the catwalk. “No matter how many shows I’ve done, as soon as they say it’s time to start, I get that nervous sensation and feel like I have to pee,” she says. “So that’s where my mind is. That and making it to the end of the runway and back as fast as I can.”

That and making it to the end of the runway and back as fast as I can.”
First things first. What’s the key to looking fantastic in photos?
It’s all about the light. Always face it, because that’s how you give your face good angles. If you’re outside when the sun is overhead, you’re going to have dark circles from the sun creating shadows on your face. So no outdoor pictures between 12 and two!

That’s it?
And always, always powder your T-zone and the lines going from your nose down around your mouth so you don’t look like a bulldog. When those areas are shiny, it’s awful. And gloss will keep your lips from appearing dehydrated...
...Anything else?
...Anything else?
If you’re wearing smoky eye makeup, a little beige or gold pencil on the inner eye corners will open up the area, but you only want to do it if the shadow is really dark. Otherwise, light pencil makes your eyes look too far apart, like a fish. And I put black mascara on my top and bottom lashes because I have tiny little hamster eyes. With mascara, they seem larger...
...You’re a frequent flier. What goes in the toiletry bag?
Deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, braces….
Excuse me? Braces?
I wear clear Invisalign braces at night. One of my teeth was moving. A photographer was using a side light, which created a shadow across my mouth. I saw a Polaroid, and it looked like I had no tooth! So I went to the dentist and got Invisaligns.
As we’ve been talking, you’ve eaten two and a half large cookies, which is, quite frankly, killing me. Is it seriously all in the genes?
I love outdoor sports, like volleyball, and I play them whenever I can. But my secret is that I watch TV maybe twice a year. I’m not a potato sack; I’ve never sat on my couch. If I’m home, I’m cleaning, feeding my dogs, doing stuff. Life is too precious to waste time.
Women covet your hair. How do you get it looking so good?
I don’t do much. I wash it, but I don’t own a brush. When the ends get frizzy, I apply a little bit of Victoria’s Secret shine serum to them. Then my hair looks done.
On shoots, you curl your own lashes, apply mascara yourself, and pencil in your brows. You’re like a pro makeup artist.
I’ve always attempted to do my own lashes because it’s hard for me to have somebody with a wand right near my eye. I have blond, invisible eyebrows, so I try to make them with this gray-brown pencil from Pout, Blonde Bombshell.
What’s the most flattering type of lingerie?
Lace is very sexy, and I like a demi-bra because it gives you a little lift. If you’re wearing lace, you should have small underwear, but they make lacy big ones, too.

Eve of the Month: Kelly Ripa
Congratulations to our Eve of the Month, Kelly Ripa!
Long known for her wit on Live with Regis & Kelly, and now known for her "32AA longs" we applaud Kelly for her candor, acceptance and humor regarding her breast size. Here's to Kelly being a role model for other women and celebrities, proving that being natural is beautiful.
To honor Kelly, we've included some video highlights below, featuring her talking about her small cup size. In one of the videos, Kelly comments that she thinks that Victoria's Secret is the only company who carries her bra size (32AA) without her having to shop in the children's section.
Fortunately, our Eve's Apples Lingerie Boutique (http://www.evesappleslingerie.com/), launching this holiday season, will be carrying fashionable, high quality, comfortable bras for women in 32AA and smaller (28 - 30 AA bras). Of course, we'll also be carrying bras up to size 36B and 32C.
In the meantime, Kelly is an inspiration for small busted women who love to "Celebrate Their Inner Eves."

Celebrate Your Inner Eve
As Eve's Apples is coming up on two wonderful years of blogging and "Celebrating Our Inner Eves" readers often send messages asking what exactly it is to "Celebrate Your Inner Eve."
Dear readers, based upon who you are, your background and your beliefs, "Celebrating Your Inner Eve" could mean a variety of things.
To Eve's Apples, celebrating your inner Eve is "to embrace all aspects of yourself, the sweet, the smart, the sassy, the savvy, the seductive with confidence." As women we wear many hats, flipping in and out of roles as wives, girlfriends, mothers, sisters, daughters, leaders, teachers, lovers, bosses, healers, professionals, saints and seductresses. We are all of it, and we are none of it.
We are what we think we are. We are what we project. We are defined by our actions, but, nonetheless, we are not our actions. Confused yet? Welcome to being a woman. Many of us struggle from what society, our family, our friends, our profession deem that we "should" be. What is important is that a woman knows who she is.
Celebrating Your Inner Eve is a right of passage between a being girl and a woman. A woman knows she is a sensual, intelligent, beautiful creature, capable of infinite possibilities, changing roles, all equally glorious and essential in living. "Girls" reach for a superficial perfection of womanhood that is a state of temporary beauty, fading with time, not the beauty within.
How stunning is it to watch a woman like Isabella Rossellini? She is 57 years old, yet to watch her is to watch the embodiment of womanhood and grace in movement. I agree with Choklit (from her blog "Musings from a Lover about Beautiful Things") that Isabella is fearless. In life. In love. In living.
Celebrating is a state of mind. A confidence of self, accepting all aspects that make us whole. To watch Isabella Rossellini on screen, you notice that she doesn't care about her wrinkles or her weight; she exudes a confidence that mesmerizes and seduces everyone in the room. Soon her wrinkles become brush strokes on a painting and her curves are the Venus de Milo. Once you accept all aspects of yourself, you will confidently radiate the gorgeous grace and beauty that lies within.
In other words, my dear, Lingeristas, here's to you Celebrating Your Inner Eve!

Cosabella "Angel of Hope" Bra Auctioned
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we're bringing you artistically decorated bras to raise money for a cure. The Cosabella "Angel of Hope" Bra was auctioned (among others, pictured below) Sunday, October 4th, 2009 at the 2nd Annual Bra-Ha-Ha.
Sponsors such as Max Media, Dillard’s, Barnes and Noble and California Pizza Kitchen joined in the efforts. The exhibit kicked off with an opening night gala Sunday, Oct. 4 in Norfolk’s MacArthur Center’s Center Court. Dozens of artists and craftswoman - and one man - from throughout the East Coast donated decorated and themed 145 bras to be exhibited and auctioned off during the grand opening of Chesapeake Regionals Breast Center Oct. 23.
"What is Bra-ha-ha? Bra-ha-ha is meant to promote women’s health and increase awareness of breast cancer. Proceeds will benefit the Chesapeake Regional Breast Center. Participants created artworks based on their thoughts and feelings about breast cancer, but these artists don’t paint on canvas, they decorate 36C under-wire bras.
The results are poignant and humorous, heart warming and thought provoking. Bra-ha-ha commemorates battles won and lost, honors the heroism of friends and family, and serves as a reminder of the importance of mammograms, self-checks and early detection.
Last year’s inaugural event featured 145 decorated bras from artists throughout Hampton Roads. Entries were serious, whimsical, tongue-in-check, sentimental or downright funny. Because of the exhibit’s overwhelming success, organizers at Chesapeake Regional decided to move this year’s exhibit to a larger venue and schedule two weeks for the public to view the creations (October 5th - 17th).

While the "Hunt for the Cure" design took home the 1st place prize, all the entries are truly the real winners. Anything that helps bring awareness and resources to fight this deadly disease is truly appreciated."
